AGIís acoustical consultants have extensive experience evaluating the effects of aircraft noise and its associated problems on surrounding communities at several commercial and military facilities. AGI consultants have previously provided consulting services to airport and heliport operators, government agencies, and a number of aviation planners in the areas of aircraft noise evaluation, environmental studies, and land use planning. The impact of aircraft noise on surrounding communities is evaluated in a timely and economical manner utilizing noise survey data, flight and aircraft operations information, and our professional teams knowledge of current aircraft noise rating techniques including sound exposure level (SEL), day-night noise level (Ldn), and community noise equivalent level (CNEL). These services are available for projects involving noise modeling studies, master plan updates, new site selection, expansion alternatives analysis, AICUZ, Part 150, and land use studies.

As the demand for large multi-family housing or transient lodging developments increases, there is a heightened awareness of the seriousness of space-to-space intrusion of noise and vibration. Achieving appropriate transmission loss characteristics of common-wall building designs becomes paramount to developers, regulatory agencies, and residential/lodging stakeholders. AGI Consultants have provided consulting services to architects, builders, home ownersí associations, law firms (both plaintiffsí and defendantsí parties), and engineering firms in the areas of project planning and design, partition isolation evaluations, transmission loss predictions, sound and vibration intrusion measurements, mitigation measures, and litigation support.
AGIís staff members have over 20 years of experience in conducting noise studies for architects, condominiums, developers, hotels, and attorneys. Our staffís experience includes supervision of acoustical studies involving party wall and floor/ceiling designs, investigation of HVAC, plumbing and mechanical noise, and field testing of party walls and floor/ceiling assemblies (FSTC, FIIC, NNIC, NIC, NR). Expert Witness participation in destructive tests with forensic architects, field observations & testing, and mediation are just one example of our services in this sector.† Our recommendations have included the repair of defects in order to meet state standards, industry standards of care, and court decisions. Railroad Noise Impact Assessment
Noise and vibration studies are among the technical services provided by AGI for the design and construction of rail lines and rail terminals. The prediction of excessive noise levels and their results are used to recommend noise and vibration mitigation measurements during the design process.† Methods for reducing construction noise, such as the use of less intrusive equipment and the benefits of topography are frequently recommended where feasibly effective and practical. AGI staff also provides support to community involvement programs that facilitates the identification of noise concerns at an early stage in the project and enhance the acceptability of proposed mitigation measures.
Vehicular noise from automobiles and truck traffic are ever increasing. AGIís staff is well versed in the process of noise control.† We are experts in traffic noise analysis, modeling, community interface, noise abatement design.
Federal and state transportation noise models have been developed and modified to predict the effect of noise on neighboring communities. AGI staff members have extensive experience with these models and can assist designers of transportation systems, including highways, rapid transit terminals, and automotive tunnels, in minimizing the affect of future traffic noise levels. AGIís staff utilizes the latest version of the Federal Highway Administrationís Traffic Noise Model (TNM) as well as other in house models for predictive analyses. In conjunction with traffic flow rates, vehicular speed, vehicle percentage mix, roadway geometry, natural sound barriers, and other significant sound inputs, this library of computer programs is used to provide predictions of highway-generated noise at sensitive receptors in the project area. AGI can also generate noise contours to show noise levels in communities adjacent to roadways. Contours can also be used to determine environmental noise. The combination of these tools and resources provide for effective, timely, and economical completion of surface transportation noise projects.

AGIís technical services include vibration studies for the construction of roadways and rail lines. Recommendations for vibration mitigation measures during the design process are based on predicted vibration levels. Methods for reducing construction vibration, including the use of less intrusive equipment, scheduling, and construction methodology are recommended wherever their effectiveness and practicality are feasible. AGI staff also provides support to community involvement programs that facilitates the identification of vibration concerns at an early stage in the project and enhance the acceptability of proposed mitigation measures.
AGIís staff has extensive working knowledge of seismometers, analyzers, accelometers, and geophones. Timely field monitoring of existing conditions and sampling of representative future conditions for impact assessment are well within our capabilities.† Our staff has a thorough understanding of Federal and Local transportation vibration regulations and guidelines as well as industry standards for vibration sensitive facilities.
